NFL Week 7 Daily Fantasy Targets (10/21/16)

By Frank Brank @realfbra

We'll go through our top players at each position for daily fantasy cash and tournament games that should help you cash in on Week 7.

Quarterbacks

Cash Game

Matt Ryan is an obvious pick at quarterback this week. He's going to be highly owned and if he continues arguably the best season of his career, he'll be a must own to not get left in the dust. We expect Matt Ryan to throw the ball at least 35 times and for around 300 yards in a high scoring game in the Georgia Dome against a shaky San Diego defense.

Tournament

Kirk Cousins started the season poorly. In fact, he was called out publicly by his head coach and the talks of Colt McCoy taking over at quaterback sprouted up. Despite the narrative, the Redskins have been throwing the ball frequently this season, attempting at least 34 pass in all but one game. Cousins will go up against a Lions defense that hasn't defended the pass particularly well this year. They've allowed 8.2 yards per pass attempt, sixth worst in the NFL, combined with a league average sack rate. Cousins should be a low-owned, quality quaterback this week.

Running Backs

Cash Game

With LeSean McCoy doubtful, Mike Gillislee comes at an extremely cheap price for the workload he'll see if McCoy is confirmed out. There's no doubt he'll be highly owned with such a small salary and large role. The Bills' offense is falling apart with Sammy Watkins out and Robert Woods doubtful. They are running out of options; thus, Gillislee will be a huge target without McCoy in the red zone, running, and passing game.

Tournament

Rodgers is another back who comes at a cheap price this week and is somewhat flying under the radar at running back. Charles Sims and Doug Martin are both out this week and the Buccaneers have simply run out of options at running back. Rodgers has been a typical third down back throughout his career that will now handle the main workload. He's also dangerous in the passing game from his previous backup experience.

Wide Receivers

Cash Game

Despite the Bengals early struggles, their top wideout is having another good season. Green has been targeted more than ten times per game this year and has nearly reached half of his reception total from last year in just six games. The Browns' secondary is simply not good and Joe Haden, easily their best defensive back, is either going to be out or less than 100% this week. With nearly everyone stacking Matt Ryan with Julio Jones, Green is a prime target as we project his point total to be nearly identical as Jones.

Tournament

At such a cheap salary, Adam Humphries makes an interesting option for the Buccaneers this week. Vincent Jackson is out, Cecil Shorts is less than 100% if he plays, and as mentioned above, their running back position is depleted. The relatively unknown slot receiver has gotten 31 targets in five games and caught 20 of those passes thus far. We fully expect he'll catch enough balls to be worth his salary this week and at worst allows you to grab some bigger players to fill the rest of your lineup.

Tight Ends

Cash Game

Gronk is an obvious pick most weeks. This week is no different. Ben Roethlisberger is out after meniscus surgery which will only give the Patriots offense more time with the ball. You don't need to be familiarized with Gronkowski, but the Steelers linebacking core, and defense in general, has been dinged up. Ryan Shazier should get the main duty of shadowing Gronkowski but this will be his first game back from a knee injury in Week 3.

Tournament

Even though Walker is a top four priced tight end on DraftKings and FanDuel, he has a chance to be lower owned than he should this week. As a top three tight end, accoridng to our projections, Walker has the potential to have a huge game against a bad Colts defense. The Colts' linebackers do not match up well regardless, but the dual threat of Mariota and Murray running against their poor front seven could open up a ton of options for Walker. To top it off, he only saw two targets last week which could turn a large percentage of players off. As one of Mariota's favorite red zone targets, Walker has the potential to have a multiple score game.
