Post NBA Draft prop bets – which player wins Rookie of the Year, how many games will Joel Embiid play? Odds courtesy of Bovada.lv.

The NBA Draft came and went. There were no surprises at the top of the board, no prospect sat in the green room longer than expected and there were no mega-trades. To spice up a ho-hum night we look at player props for some of the top rookies.

Andrew Wiggins - average points per game in the regular season?
  • Over/Under: 14.5
For the second straight year the Cavs used the first pick to select a Canadian. Wiggins set a Kansas freshman record scoring 17.1 points per game last season. With the ability to play multiple positions, Wiggins will get playing time and an opportunity to score.

Doug McDermott – average points per game in the regular season?
  • Over/Under: 11.5
Chicago acquired McDermott by trading the 16th and 19th pick in the draft. Dougie McBuckets averaged 26.7 points, shot 52.6 percent from the field and 45 percent from behind the arc as the consensus College Player of the Year his senior season.

Joel Embiid – how many games played in the regular season?
  • Over/Under: 41.5
Embiid may have the most upside of any player in the draft but he could miss all of next season recovering from foot surgery. The 76ers are not in a hurry to win and allowing Embiid to spend next season rehabilitating like they did with Nerlens Noel could be the smart move for a team taking the long view.

Editor's note: This prop is no longer available after Sam Hinkie, Philadelphia's GM, said Embiid will be out 5-8 months.

Rookie of the Year

Jabari Parker, the All-American from Duke, is the favorite (5/1) to win the NBA Rookie of the Year. The sixth pick from the 2013 draft, Nerlens Noel, is the third favorite (9/1) after missing all of last season with an injury. Shabazz Napier, traded to Miami, could start at point guard after a disappointing NBA Finals from Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole. Napier has the best odds (12/1) of the late first round picks.
