Players to Target (12/16/15)

By Tom W. Brewer @Tom_W_Brewer
NBA DFS - Five players to target for December 16th.

The NBA docket is twelve games strong tonight, so there are plenty of intriguing Daily Fantasy plays out there. With so many great players available, you need to consider matchups when setting your DFS lineup. Not every team defends like the Spurs, and with tonight's loaded schedule, you're best served to use players opposing weak defenses.

Here are some players with favorable matchups to build your DFS lineup around.

1. PG – Kemba Walker, Charlotte Hornets
Salaries: $7,000 (DraftKings), $7,900 (FanDuel), $33 (Yahoo)

Walker's been asked to take on more offensive responsibility in the absence of Al Jefferson, and he's responded by absolutely torching it. The Hornets have picked up the pace with Jefferson out, and the faster style suits Walker just fine. He's averaging over 35 fantasy points per game over his last five on FanDuel and over 38 during that same span on DraftKings. Plus the Hornets are playing at the Magic, and Walker's been slightly better on the road this season from a fantasy perspective.

2. SG – Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat
Salaries: $6,800 (DraftKings), $6,900 (FanDuel), $30 (Yahoo)

Wade might be a grizzled vet in his twelfth season, but the guy still lights it up. He can score from anywhere, whether he's slashing to the basket, hitting treys from the wing, or slowly carving up defenders with a thousand step-backs. He's averaging 25-30 fantasy points per game and has a favorable matchup against a Nets team that gives up the third most points to shooting guards, according to RotoGrinders. Look for Flash to fill up the stat sheet tonight.

3. SF – Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs
Salaries: $8,600 (DraftKings), $8,800 (FanDuel), $43 (Yahoo)

Kawhi Leonard is off to an amazing start to the season, but it's been lost in the glow of the Warrior's streak and Steph Curry's transcendent play. Kinda fitting for the Spurs, right? Leonard is on a tear, averaging over 20 points and seven boards a night and rocking a +/- of 9.1, good for eighth in the NBA. The Claw averages just north of 40 fantasy points a night, and he's matched up with a Wizards team that isn't always interested in defending.

Bonus pick: Washington is a mess at the 4. LaMarcus Aldridge is a hot, hot play. Like flame emoji hot.

4. PF - Paul Millsap, Atlanta Hawks
Salaries: $8,000 (DraftKings), $8,300 (FanDuel), $40 (Yahoo)

The Hawks draw the 76ers tonight, so take a good look at all Atlanta players. Millsap has come down to Earth a bit after a hot November, but look for him to get right and crush it tonight. He'll patrol the point, score in double-figures, rebound, and make smart interior passes against a Philadelphia team that is second to last against power forwards. 35-40 fantasy points is definitely within reach.

5. C – Andre Drummond, Detroit Pistons
Salaries: $9,100 (DraftKings), $9,100 (FanDuel), $46 (Yahoo)

Is there a bad night to put your money on Andre Drummond? The guy eats missed shots, averaging over 16—16!—rebounds a game. That, along with over 17 points a night makes him a fantasy monster. He's facing a tough Boston defense tonight, but there's no reason he can't put up 40+ points.

Remember, what you just read is not a lineup. These guys are foundational players. Any of these five ballers will get you off to a good start, but it's up to you to take it from there.
