Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott is the early favorite to win the Heisman. The Buckeyes star running back has 6-1 odds to win college football's most prestigious award.

The defending champions have three other players with Heisman odds. Cardale Jones is 14-1, J.T. Barrett is 16-1 and Braxton Miller is 18-1. The trio of quarterbacks round out the top twelve most likely players to be invited to New York City.

Other top contenders include Dak Prescott. Mississippi State's quarterback has 7-1 odds after leading the Bulldogs to the top of the polls last season. LSU running back Leonard Fournette is 7-1 as well and gives the SEC four of the top eight most likely Heisman winners.

Laquon Treadwell is the only receiver to make the list. Ole Miss' star receiver is recovering from a broken leg. Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright is the only defensive player on the list. Treadwell and Wright are 66-1 longshots.

Quarterbacks make up the majority of the field, 15 of the 31 players with odds are signal callers. Six of the top ten players are running backs but only one ball carrier has won the award this century.
