NFL GameChangers: Week 14 Edition (12/12/16)

    By Frank Brank @realfbra

    The Situation:
The Lions hosted the Bears and were up three points in another close game. Stafford was deep in his own territory when he threw a quick out-route slightly behind his target. Cre'Von LeBlanc undercut the route and returned it for an easy touchdown.

The Take: As the most influential one-play swing of the weekend, the Lions went from having a 75.3% to win to 31.1%. In true Lions fashion, Matt Stafford would lead another comeback now down four points. Stafford himself scrambled into the end zone from the Bears seven yard line which swung the game back in their favor at 83.1%. The Lions went on to win their ninth game, eight of which where they trailed in the fourth quarter.

The Situation: The Lions comeback was nearly ruined by the Bears own comeback. Matt Barkley was driving down the field, making a handful of good throws into Lions territory when the Bears committed back to back holding penalties on plays that granted the Bears first downs. The penalties put them behind the eight ball and would eventually turn the ball over on downs, ending their chances.

The Take: The holding penalties cost the Bears the game. Only being down three with the ball sitting on the Detroit 43-yard line, the Bears had a 43.3% chance to win. The completion of the two first downs would have given the Bears a 51.3% chance as they could have had a chance to score a touchdown to win in regulation. Instead, the Bears were sitting with a 2nd and 25 from their own 42-yard line with only 10.5% odds.

The Situation: Carson Wentz and the Eagles were driving without timeouts against the Redskins defense with just 21 ticks left on the clock needing a touchdown. One of the best pass rushers in the NFL decided to end their chances on his own. Ryan Kerrigan came around Wentz's front-side and stripped the football away from Carson Wentz. The Redskins would go on to recover the fumble and win the game.

The Take: The game was actually in Philadelphia's favor at 57.4% with the ball sitting at the Washington 14-yard line. After the fumble, the Eagles game odds and playoff chances became zero with a 5-8 record. The win for the Redskins was an important one. With the Packers and Bucs surging, the Vikings hanging on, and the Giants beating the Cowboys on Sunday night, the seventh win for the Redskins, who do have a tie on their record, was necessary this week in a tough game in Philly. They'll face Carolina and Chicago next before facing off with the Giants in their finale.

    The Predictalator

03/13/2017 Highlight: Using our ResultsFinder tool, it's evident that the Predictalator is entering March Madness in incredible form. The Predictalator posted 59 "normal" or better plays in March (plays with greater than 57% confidence) and went a stellar 36-23 (61.0%) on those plays. An average $50 bettor would have profited $678 using our recommended wager sizes. After posting an outstanding 8-1 (88.9%) ATS record on "normal" or better sides in last year's NCAA Tournament, the Predictalator looks poised to produce more NCAA Tournament winners.
