    DEFLATE-GATE Props (01/21/15)

By John Ewing Director of Research and Analytics @johnewing
DEFLATE-GATE: prop bets for the punishment of the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick. Odds courtesy of Bovada.lv.

The New England Patriots defeated the Indianapolis Colts 45-7 in the AFC Championship game. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are heading back to the Super Bowl but did the Patriots cheat?

The NFL has found that 11 of New England's 12 game balls were under-inflated. Under league rules, no alteration of the footballs is allowed once officials approve the balls.

Doctoring footballs could provide a competitive advantage. Under-inflated balls could allow players to grip the ball better or alter the manner in which the ball travels through the air.

What penalties, if any, will be imposed on the Patriots?

This is not the first time that New England and Bill Belichick has been accused of cheating. The NFL fined Belichick $500,000, the New England Patriots $250,000 and docked the Pats a first-round draft pick for having an assistant spy on the New York Jets.

Bovada.lv is offering two prop bets regarding possible penalties.

Will Bill Belichick be suspended for at least 1 game for the Deflated Ball scandal?
    • Yes: +150
    • No: -200

Will Bill Belichick be suspended for the Super Bowl for the Deflated Ball scandal?
    • Yes: +750
    • No: -1500

The odds are long that Belichick misses the Super Bowl and it is doubtful that the Patriots head coach is suspended at all. Of course that won't stop people from wagering on the most recent NFL scandal.

05/10/2017 Highlight: With baseball season now into its second month, we can leverage our ResultsFinder tool to profile our season-to-date numbers. MLB sides and totals continue to remain extremely profitable despite a recent run of bad variance to start May. The Predictalator's record of 272-250 on sides and totals this season doesn't look all that impressive, but that's because the simulations have sided with underdogs more often than favorites. Through May 9, the Predictalator has generated $547 for an average $50 bettor. "Normal" or better sides, totals, and run lines (our strongest edges) are 14-10 (+$118) season-to-date.
