With NFL training camps underway, we check in on a few key position battles around the league including NFL rookies. (2014 projections for rookies are based on this analysis which projects rookie seasons for all NFL prospects as if they were starters on average NFL teams).

In the lead up to the release of our 2014 NFL Preview, we look at some of the most prominent clashes occurring in NFL training camps.

The 2014 NFL Preview will be available on August 6th.

    Minnesota Vikings – Quarterback Competition

    Incumbent: Matt Cassel
    2013 Stats – 1,807 yards, 11 TDs, 9 INTs

The Vikings rode three different quarterbacks (Cassel, Ponder, and Josh Freeman) to a disappointing 5-10-1 record in 2013. Of those three, Cassel had the most promising season and enters camp as the favorite to win the starting job.

Barring a career revival, Cassel is nothing more than a stopgap until Bridgewater is ready.

    Incumbent: Christian Ponder
    2013 Stats – 1,648 yards, 7 TDs, 9 INTs

"We'll see how it plays out once it goes to training camp, but obviously there's an agenda to try to get Teddy ready, and Cassel's the starter right now,” Ponder told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Sounds like Ponder has ruled himself out of the competition already.

    Challenger: Teddy Bridgewater
    2014 Projections – 3,829 yards, 21.2 TDs, 14.5 INTs

The Vikings used the last pick in the first round of the NFL Draft to nab Bridgewater. The Louisville product is the long-term answer in Minnesota and by our analysis, Bridgewater was the most NFL ready quarterback available in the draft.

According to Jay Glazer, Cassel and Bridgewater are splitting snaps evenly in camp. However, the Vikings are in no rush to start Bridgewater as some believe Cassel with his ten years of NFL experience gives Minnesota the best chance of winning on a weekly basis.

MLB sides, totals, and run lines have all been profitable to date, generating a total of $580 for an average $50 bettor. There is a ton of variance in baseball and there will be ups-and-downs along the way, but the early returns on the Predictalator's baseball projections are promising.

The NBA Playoffs tipped off this week and the Predictalator is off to a stellar start.
