    Fantasy Standouts (07/15/14)

    By Paul Bessire
Over the next few weeks we will reveal a prediction involving an interesting player or team prediction leading into the 2014 NFL season.

Prediction: Cam Newton is not a Top 5 Fantasy QB

In each of his three seasons, Cam Newton has been one of the top five quarterbacks in the league by fantasy standards. Do not expect that to be the case for 2014. Newton will enter the season with unquestionably one of the five weakest groups of receivers in the league as well as a below average offensive line. A likely run-heavy attack that falls in line with the Panthers' defensive proficiencies makes sense. While that should not hurt Newton's abilities to post points for rushing as a dual-threat quarterback, a major slump in passing numbers is expected.

In other fantasy quarterback news, despite only starting 12 games in our simulations, Johnny Manziel should post more fantasy points than Adrian Peterson or Calvin Johnson. That being said, it is interesting that Peterson is one of 11 players expected to average 20+ touches a game and one of 11 (a slightly different group) expected to top 100+ yards a game from scrimmage.

Top 5 QBs (based on FP/start):
    • Peyton Manning
    • Drew Brees
    • Aaron Rodgers
    • Andrew Luck
    • Robert Griffin III
    Top Rookie: Johnny Manziel

Top 5 RBs (based on FP/Game):
    • Adrian Peterson
    • LeSean McCoy
    • Jamaal Charles
    • Matt Forte
    • Eddie Lacy
    Top Rookie: Bishop Sankey

Top 5 WRs (based on FP/Game):
    • Calvin Johnson
    • Demaryius Thomas
    • Jordy Nelson
    • Antonio Brown
    • Dez Bryant
    Top Rookie: Brandin Cooks

04/24/2017 Highlight: With baseball season now in full swing, we can leverage our ResultsFinder tool to profile our season-to-date numbers. MLB sides, totals, and run lines have all been profitable to date, generating a total of $580 for an average $50 bettor. There are have been a total of nine "normal" or better positions year-to-date, and those positions are a sparkling 8-1 (88.9%), producing $393 in total profits. There is a ton of variance in baseball and there will be ups-and-downs along the way, but the early returns on the Predictalator's baseball projections are promising.
